Achelis Kenya Ltd through its Airport Development Division has been invlolved in the supply and installation of equipment and the successful implementation of various key projects at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and other airports, principally as a partner and with original equipment manufacturers for Kenya Airports Authority (KAA).
Smiths Heimann Detection
Achelis Kenya represents Smiths Heimann Detection a global leader in threat detection and screening technologies for the military, transportation, security and resilience applications.
In partnership with Smiths Heimann, Achelis has supplied screening machines and spare parts to Kenya Airports Authority for various projects.
Achelis has been responsible for the installation, commissioning and training (technical and operators) of all Smiths Heimann equipment supplied. In addition, all the projects have included the supply of spare parts.
Eastern Africa: Achelis has provided technical support for the installation, commissioning and training for Smiths Heimann in Somaliland (Hargeisa International Airport and Berbera International Airport) and Ethiopia (Bole International Airport).
Baggage Handling Systems (BHS)
Achelis has partnered with Vanderlande Industries B.V. in the supply, installation and commissioing of baggage handling systems for Kenya Airports Authority at Jomo Kenyatta Airport. Vanderlande Industries B.V. is a global leader in the design and building of baggage handling systems for airports. Achelis is Vanderlande’s local partner in the installation and commissioing of baggage handling systems for the International Arrivals Terminal in 2013, phase 1 of Terminal 1A in 2014 and currently in implementing the full solution including check-in counters at Terminal 1A in 2015. Achelis has provided technical expertise in the Mechanical and Electrical installation as well as providing equipment and technical support to Vanderlande. In all the projects to date, Achelis has provided teams of Mechanical and Electrical staff as well as equipment and tools for the installation and commissioning of the baggage handling systems.
Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs)
Achelis has provided local support under a partnership with Thyssenkrupp AG since 2000 for the Passenger Boarding Bridges supplied to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Achelis provided technical support for the installation and commissioning of 4 Passenger Boarding Bridges in 2000 and 2 Passenger Boarding Bridges in 2002. Since then Achelis has provided local support to Thyssenkrupp Airport Services for maintenance and service as well as inspection of the bridges in 2013.
Achelis is the local implementing partner for CIMC-Tianda in the installation and commissioing of 7 Passenger Boarding Bridges for Kenya Airports Authority at JKIA’s Terminal 1A in 2014. Shenzhen CIMC-TianDa Airport Support Ltd. (CIMC-TianDa) is one of the subsidiaries of China International Marine Containers (Group) Ltd. (CIMC). The company is a global leader in the design, development, manufacture, installation, and maintenance services of airport & seaport equipment, modern automated material handling solutions and technology, and auto-parking systems.
Achelis provided Mechanical and Electrical teams and the required tools under the supervision of CIMC-Tianda for the installation and commissioning of the Passenger Boarding Bridges as well equipment and local support for the company. Achelis will continue to provide Preventitive and Corrective Maintenance for the Passenger Boarding Bridges under an Annual Maintenance agreement with CIMC-Tianda.
